A Introduction to the Basics of Feng Shui

Tuesday 31 October 2006 @ 9:21 pm

Feng Shui is the ancient Eastern art of placement for the purpose of encouraging balance and harmony. The art involves arranging color, elements, numbers and directions in the way that will optimize the flow of positive energy and block the flow of negative energy that affect every part of your life. It takes decades of intense study to master Feng Shui and avoid accidentally causing disastrous outcomes to relationships, business, health and creativity. If you’re silly enough to believe that you can understand the basics of Feng Shui in just a few minutes, well, I’m game to do what I can to help. Here goes.

Above Ground Pool Decking: Adding Beauty to Your Above Ground Pool

Monday 30 October 2006 @ 7:22 pm

Above ground pool decking is a great addition to any yard with an above ground pool.  Above ground pool decking allows your friends and family to be able to bask by and walk around the pool.  Not to mention the above ground pool decking looks much better than no decking at all.

Bask in the Sun

When you have a pool in your yard, even an above ground pool, people are going to want to come over to go swimming.  More than likely, your friends and family are all going to want to come and take a dip to cool off during the hot summer months.  Above ground pool decking allows your guests a place to rest and bask in the hot sun and acts just like the surface area around an underground pool.  Many styles of decking allow for lounge chairs to be set up, towels to be laid down, or whatever your guests choose to get their suntans on.

Sunday 29 October 2006 @ 10:15 pm

When remodeling or installing a new kitchen, bathroom, powder room or bar counters there are numerous choices available. However, marble and granite countertops make a high-end statement as well as provide some solid features.

Granite is a volcanic product produced when magma, melted stone, is cooled slowly underground. It is this slow cooling that makes granite a very hard stone and for that reason has superior strength and durability. Marble and granite countertops are incredibly easy to take care of because they can be polished to a high shines finish and used in many applications in construction.

California Home Inspector

Saturday 28 October 2006 @ 2:39 pm

The job of a California home inspector is one that requires special training, knowledge, and communication skills. However, there is presently no uniform certification and no requirement for California home inspectors to take any courses or to have passed any tests. Anyone can say that they are a California home inspector, when in fact, they know as much about construction as the next guy. Therefore, when you choose a California home inspector, it is important that you choose wisely.

Looking for a California Home Inspector

Reputable California home inspectors are generally members of a state or county trade association. These associations, like the American Society of Home Inspectors, set standards of practice and code of ethics to which all members must conform to. Often, because of the absence of any state laws regulating the licensing of California home inspectors, these association standards and rules are the only dividing line between a home buyer hiring a professional and a fraud.

Tuesday 24 October 2006 @ 7:17 pm

Most of us are thinking of selling our buying a house.  However, in most cases the parties involved in the transaction are not really informed about the important matters going on to get the accurate home value appraisals.  Since these things happened, many home value appraisals with their appraisers’ efforts were not able to perform their assigned responsibilities.

There is also some times that in some neighborhoods of a single subdivision homes most of the mortgage lenders applied computerized home value appraisals just to save costs.  However, due to their use of the automated home value appraisals, the individual appraisers report an increased numbers of home value appraisals.

Fireplace Design Increases Its Efficiency

Friday 20 October 2006 @ 5:38 pm

Most home buyers have a fireplace on their wish list. In many cases, it is the appearance of the fireplace that makes it so desirable. Of course, a fireplace is also a place for a fire and, therefore, heat. As the prices of electricity, natural gas and heating oil rise, more people look to their fireplaces for additional heat. Many fireplaces use the same fuel as the home’s central heating system. If you want to get all the heat you can from your fireplace fuel, look to the fireplace design to make sure it’s as efficient as possible.

Air, Fuel, Heat

Fire is made from three components: air, fuel and heat. Increasing the efficient use of these three elements will make your fireplace a more efficient source of heat. A wood-burning fireplace with a chimney presents special problems for the air part of the equation. Most fireplaces are found in a home with central heating. That means that if the fireplace design draws the air from the room, it is taking in warm air, heating it up and sending much of it out of the chimney into the cold. As more cold air is drawn into the home to be heated by a furnace, drawn into the fire and sent up the chimney, a net loss of heat occurs.

Thursday 19 October 2006 @ 4:03 pm

You might as well, you’ll save money on labor costs if nothing else. If, however, you’re not very technically proficient, then let someone who knows what they’re doing handle the job. You want the job done right the first time, don’t try to install it yourself only to have to hire someone later.

The Internet Has All Kinds Of Do-It-Yourself Information

If you know what you’re doing or even if you just want to learn how, turn to the internet. The internet is filled with information on all sorts of subjects and, chances are, there’s a site out there dedicated to garage door installation. You can find how to do it, what tools you’ll need and even tips and warnings. Do your homework and make sure that you’re comfortable before you start climbing a ladder and installing the garage door yourself.
