The Bissell Vacuum Cleaner: Past And Present

Wednesday 31 January 2007 @ 8:34 pm

Everyone wants to be able to say that they have a tried and true way of doing things. Everyone wants stability in their life, and the world of cleaning can often be a stressful realm to enter. However, by using a Bissell vacuum cleaner, one is not only using a brand that is tried and true, one is also cleaning with ease.

The Birth Of The Bissell Vacuum Cleaner

The Bissell vacuum cleaner was born in the late 1800s, and it was born in a surprisingly ordinary way. It all began when Melville Bissell and his wife Anna owned a crockery shop in Michigan. Anna, trying to clean the shop after a long day of work, often became annoyed with the small particles of sawdust that stuck to the floor and were difficult to remove.

Auto Refinance

Wednesday 31 January 2007 @ 8:31 pm

You have probably heard of auto refinance before. Or simply refinance. The term “refinance” actually refers to a financial situation wherein a borrower finds financing to pay off a current loan. Refinance is often put into practice in home buying. In fact, refinancing is one of the most popular methods of getting financing for a home loan.

With auto refinance, the same thing applies. Auto refinance is basically paying off one loan with a new loan. The goal of auto refinance is to allow the borrower to save some money from your monthly loan obligations. And as such, it is one of the best kept secrets in the financing industry. For years now, people have refinancing their homes and saving thousands of dollars. However, the practice of refinancing car loans has yet to be indulged by most. Why? Perhaps the reason is that auto loans generally behave differently from home loans and people are naturally skeptical about new methods. Regardless, auto refinance is still a good choice, provided that the situation is right.

Choosing the Best Plants for your Garden

Wednesday 31 January 2007 @ 8:30 pm

Many times we buy plants on impulse then find there is nowhere in the garden that really suits them. Before buying plants carefully examine your garden to see how much sun and shade it gets, whether the soil is well drained or waterlogged and whether your aspect is sheltered or windswept. You’ll then be equipped to go and buy the best plants for your situation; shade-loving plants for the sheltered areas, sun-lovers for the warm spots, drought-resistant plants for the parched areas which may be either sunny or shaded, and swamp plants for the poorly-drained parts.

But wait! Test your soil first, to determine the pH level of your soil and what kind of nutrients you need to add, if any. Is the soil acid or alkaline? Most plants prefer soil that is slightly acidic, but there are some that must have alkaline soil to grow.  You can alter the soil’s pH level, but it’s much easier to simply plant for the soil you have.

The Interesting History behind Aluminum Club Cookware

Wednesday 31 January 2007 @ 8:29 pm

The Club Aluminum Company was started in the early 1900’s as an aluminum kitchen utensil company. The products were sold door to door by salesmen who would invite the woman of the house to host a luncheon using the Club Aluminum cookware and products. The company would foot the bill for the event as a way to get women to try out the products. Unfortunately, this business plan proved to be an expensive endeavor that did not fare well once the Great Depression hit. Within a few years, the company stockholders turned control of the company over to a new president, Herbert John Taylor. Taylor left his post as vice president of Jewel Tea Company to revive the then floundering Club Aluminum Company.

Outside Help

Tuesday 30 January 2007 @ 10:40 pm

Some people who are too busy with work may sometimes be absent minded about certain things and tend to forget doing some of their important chores. If this happens more frequently, it is best to get a handyman of some sort to help out rather than making one’s performance suffer.  A personal organizer can be hired  to do just about anything, whether it is something that has to do with work in the office or activities that need to be done at home with the family.

Hiring a personal organizer is like hiring an applicant for any other job. One should prepare a list of questions that the person must be able to answer and if the individual answers well, then the job can be offered. Here are some questions that one can ask a potential personal organizer:

Backyard Landscaping: An Art Form In Itself

Tuesday 30 January 2007 @ 10:38 pm

Keep The Backyard Unified And This May Also Include Having A Central Theme

Backyard landscaping is a bit like an art form where one may feel that one is actually painting a landscape even though one is not doing anything more than thoughtfully placing plants in the ground. However, it is more than mere coincidence that backyard landscaping design has a lot in common with the world of art and the backyard is the canvas and the landscape designs and skills determine the beauty of the finished picture.

The Timeless Purpose of an Alarm clock

Tuesday 30 January 2007 @ 10:35 pm

Whether your alarm clock is an old-fashioned clock with alarm bells, a digital alarm clock radio or is integrated in your computers and mobile phones, the purpose of an alarm clock remains the same – to remind you of something or wake you up at a designated time.

The most common purpose of an alarm clock is to wake people up. The alarm clock rings when the time set is reached, which triggers the system to set off the alarm. This alarm will continue to ring until you press it off, or for only a given period.

A traditional alarm clock includes a bell on top, which rings when the alarm is triggered. Modern alarm clocks are designed with different kinds of ring tones that you can program for your preferred “wake up tone”.
