If we walked into American homes equipped with home gyms, we’d find all sorts of decorations. Initially, we might find this hard to believe, but after one or two experiences …what’ll they think of next?

Indoor Clothes Line

Hope is such a great quality! It plays a part in the purchase of probably every home gym. Something happens between the purchase phase and the arrival and set up of the equipment at home. It must have something to do with the seasons. Springtime arrives shortly after the pieces are out of the box and assembled and we are instinctively ushered outside. Fair enough, but when the first rainy day comes there is an automatic impulse to decorate the home gym with a raincoat or towel or a wet garment.

I don’t think it is a conscious home decorating choice, the gym might be the victim here. It could just be the location of the home gym or its natural decorative properties or maybe it’s just the proximity to our route of in-home travel.

Modern Architecture

Now, with our twenty-first century lifestyle there is a tendency to use industrial images in home decorating. The home gym can easily be included within the parameters of the modern look. If the theme is to decorate with steel and chrome and black and white, the home gym can be a decorative addition to an activity room or spare bedroom.

Make sure the theme is practical and inviting or rugged and exciting if your intention is that the equipment actually be used.

Weight Issues

Home gyms are generally heavy, bulky and not so easy to move around the house. Even cleaning around them requires some focus to avoid injury. This is a decorating concern and you might have to decorate the room around the home gym.

When planning to add a home gym to a room, the décor should be considered. It is not a sissy move to leave a little room for passage around weight equipment. Practicality and ease of access will increase the possibility of the equipment being used to advantage. A spacious look will also benefit the room’s décor, even with a goliath home gym sitting in the middle of it.
